USE CASES

How to activate new Carrier Ethernet Services?

Activating a new Carrier Ethernet circuit traditionally means sending a technician out with external test equipment to validate throughput and SLA compliance before the service can go live. Ekinops Ethernet Access Devices (EAD) build that testing capability directly into the box: RFC 2544 (the industry-standard network performance benchmark) and Y.1564 (the standard test for validating a new service before it goes live) run natively on the device, alongside OAM (Operations, Administration, and Maintenance) reflectors and end-to-end performance monitoring. A circuit can be activated, verified, and monitored from the same unit that carries the traffic, without external tools or a second visit to the site.

FAQ

Find your answer to common questions on Ekinops Ethernet Access Device (EAD).

It depends on your bandwidth and role. The 1 Gbps platform covers Gigabit demarcation for mid-size enterprises and regional offices, up to 64 Ethernet virtual circuits. The 10 Gbps platform covers larger sites, or aggregation of multiple Gigabit links for operators, up to 254 Ethernet virtual circuits.

You can add it later. Layer 3 IP routing is enabled through a software license on the same physical unit, so you can start with Layer 2 demarcation only and add routing when you need it, without a hardware change.

Yes. Ethernet Access Device (EAD) devices support standard CLI and SNMP for traditional environments, and NETCONF/YANG for automated orchestration platforms, so they fit into the management approach you already use rather than requiring a new one.

It’s an independent guarantee that the E-Line, E-LAN, E-Tree, E-Access, and E-Transit services we deliver meet the industry’s interoperability and performance standards, so you’re not relying solely on our own claims when evaluating service quality.
