Every new network function, a firewall, an SD-WAN client, a monitoring agent, traditionally means another dedicated appliance to rack, cable, and maintain at the customer site. Ekinops Virtualization & Containerization runs those functions as software instead: virtual network functions (VNFs) and containers hosted on a single universal CPE (uCPE), a standard server at the edge, rather than one box per function. New services are added remotely, and the underlying hardware isn’t tied to any single software vendor, including ours.

The certification process checks more than basic compatibility: it validates onboarding, tests performance under real conditions, and confirms integration into specific deployment scenarios, rather than just confirming a VNF technically boots on the platform.
It scales down as well as up. The underlying hardware ranges from small, entry-level units suited to a single branch to high-performance servers for demanding edge sites, so the same virtualization approach applies whether you’re consolidating one office or a large facility.
Both. Ekinops provides its own virtual network functions, and you can also run any of the more than 30 already-certified third-party VNFs from our VNF Store, built on more than 15 years working with Tier 1 telecom operators, or have a new one certified through our open certification program.
Both run as software on the same hardware, but VNFs are typically full virtual machines running network operating systems, while containers are lighter-weight and faster to deploy for specific applications or edge workloads. The platform supports both models side by side.
